We have developed training materials. We train people for 3 days.

Day 1: Theory

On this first day, we bring more into focus basic theory of energy, energy technologies, sustainability vs. renewable energy, importance of life cycle analysis, sustainable business, comparison of kerosene and electric lamp (advantage and disadvantage), electrical basic theory (Ohms law, voltage, current, resistors, power, energy), criteria of a low cost device, how to design a low cost lamp, explanation of the lamp components, their technical descriptions, idea behind hosing them, business plan associated. All the theory is compared to real life analogy for better understanding. E.g. Ohms law is explained using water flowing from a mountain. Renewable energy technology is made up of harmful battery e.g. batteries are made up of Nickle, Lithium etc. which is harmful if they are thrown in the environment, hence recycle is important. This leads to sustainability.

Day 2: Practical

On this day, we focus on making the lamp. Trainees get empty trash (transparent bottles) and we provide the other components (LEDs, wire, battery, solar PV, soldering iron). At the end of day 2, we analyze each lamp and discuss on the improvements. Further, we give them feedback form to know their background and also to improve our training.

Day 3: Field visit

On this day, our trainees, who were trained on day 1 and day 2, visit the nearest field area (village or secondary school) and teach the people in their local language. Here, they focus on basic theory and making the lamps. After the training session, we give them the feedback on how to improve the training.
